When you look down this list of 20 Mothers you will wonder, why so many? Well, you (usually) have one mother and one father. Each of them had a mother, making two grandmothers. Each of them had a mother, making 2 X 2, or 4 great grandmothers. and so on. Each time you go back a generation you double the number of mothers. These are just a small number of my female ancestors. For example, I have included stories about just six of my 16 great great great grandmothers.
